Alex said we are selling the Kalamath river (Portagee Creek) claim with a negotiator. Negotiator has yet to be named. Dimitri reported that he had recently visited the claim. It was in pristine condition, no sign of use. The river was high and coffee colored with all the mud. He came across to former members that came to the claim to prospect. A discussion of the pros and cons of keeping vs selling the claim. Members wanted to know how much it cost per year to keep. Did we incur any liability be keeping the claim. Several expressed an interest in going to the claim but had just not had the time yet. The idea that most likely the New 49er's would buy the claim was mentioned and for those interested in river prospecting (especially the Kalamath) it would make sense for them to join that organization if they ever did get the time to travel up there.
Ben explained that we were trying to focus on SoCal for claims since that where we have almost all our members, outings and meetings. He explained that we were hoping to use the money to purchase or make some new claims in SoCal including the Quartzite, Randsburg and were ever the gold leads.
