WEPC offers 9 workable claims in California, both wet and dry.
Looking for Gold or just plain fun? West End Prospectors has both. There is something for everyone. You'll spend your time finding gold instead of wasting time looking for a place to prospect.
We schedule monthly outings to one of our claims: mountain and river claims are spring through summer and we work our desert claims during the fall and winter months. These outings provide opportunities to prospect and learn under actual conditions.
We will be having our 2024 Holiday Party at the Corona Public Library. Doors open at 1 PM on Saturday, 12/7 for set-up and the anticipated start of the food and party is 2 PM. We will have turkey and ham provided by the club. Please bring food to share with the potluck including side dishes, main dishes, and deserts. Please provide your own beverages and plates and utensils, though coffee will be provided.
We will have a gift exchange for all of those interested. Please bring a wrapped gift worth $25 to $30, preferably related to camping or mining. Last year was a great success and we hope to have a big crowd again for this fun event.
We are having the West End January outing at the Cholla claim this year. It will be the weekend of January 13th. That is MLK Day weekend so it will be a 3 day weekend for many.
We will camp near the discovery marker and plan to have a potluck on Saturday at 5 PM for those interested. There will be some members arriving Friday 1/12. This is a remote claim and really requires 4WD and is not a place for RV's or trailers. This is a big claim with plenty of area for detecting and drywashing. I hope we can get a good turnout like last spring.

We have decided to move the March club outing to the Cholla claim to try something new and also to avoid the wet ground at the other claims. The outing is officially on March 18th and 19th, but many of us plan to arrive on Friday 3/17 and stay for 2 nights. It will be chilly at night and poor cell reception, but this is a chance to visit a claim that has not been mined very much due to the remote location. 4WD is recommended. Please see emails being sent out about meeting along the I-10 to drive into the claim as a group for those who are not familiar with the road. Bring firewood. Hope to see you there!

PLP's 2022 Six Day FALLFEST a RESOUNDING SUCCESS!
Public Lands for the People’s (PLP) 2022 Fallfest was bigger and better than ever! We had a fantastic group of folks that attended, and at least a couple dozen volunteers who are really the ones who made everything run so smooth!
Where to start? We had many educational seminars on various topics 5 days in a row, including metal detecting class by several experts, drilling and blasting by John Norman, winning legal mining rights battles the PLP way by Clark Pearson (we have many wins in court which back up our guide cards), capturing fine gold from concentrates by Mike Pung (Mr. Gold Cube!), legal requirements for getting your blasting license and more.
There was a very well attended Mining District and Owl Museum tour- wow, the history of the area is fantastic! Dan and Arlene Stanton were our tour guides and they know their stuff! You can book your own tour with them: www.redmtnkellysilver.com
